By implementing these strategies, Merchandisers can deliver relevant and impactful experiences that foster customer engagement and drive conversions.
Enable upsell opportunities
If you have high-performing products, you may want to cross-promote complementary products to increase average order value (AOV). For example, if one of your best-selling items is a pair of sneakers, you can promote socks and shoelaces to appear near the item.
-
In the Visual Editor, navigate to the high-performing product using search or facets.
-
Select the checkboxes for the items you want to cross-promote.
-
Click Add Rule.
-
Select Boost from the list of actions.
-
This creates an unpublished rule. Go to the Ranking Rules page to publish it.
Another option is to add a banner to your results payload.
-
In the Visual Editor, navigate to the high-performing product using search or facets.
-
From the Actions sidebar, click Add Banner.
-
In the Banner URL field, paste the banner image URL. For example,
https://example-site.com/assets/promotion.png
. -
In the Banner Section field, you can specify where on the page the frontend should display the banner. For example,
TOP
. This is an arbitrary value used by the frontend.
-
-
Click Add Banner.
-
This creates an unpublished rule. Go to the Ranking Rules page to publish it.
If upsell opportunities don’t perform as expected, adjust the rule to promote different combinations of products. Alternatively, create rules for different customer segments to show relevant upsell items based on past purchases or browsing behavior.
