Semantic Versioning Policy
Beginning with Fusion 5.17.0, Lucidworks follows Semantic Versioning (MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH). The next major after the 5.x series is 6.0.0. In Fusion, major releases may introduce breaking changes or remove deprecated functionality and will include migration guidance to help clients upgrade. Before removing functionality in a major release, Lucidworks will deprecate it in at least one prior minor release to allow clients time to transition. Minor releases add features and improvements without breaking existing behavior or supported APIs, and may include deprecations. Patch releases focus on fixing bugs, updating components for security, and maintaining Kubernetes support, with no new features.Major Release Support Policy
Lucidworks provides major releases on an annual basis. Each major is supported for up to 20 months from its General Availability (GA) date. With annual majors, this typically means up to two overlapping major versions are supported at any given time. The 20-month support clock starts at the major GA date, and the last minor within a major may be extended at our discretion to smooth the transition to the next major. Major releases may include necessary breaking changes or remove previously deprecated functionality to advance the platform, and Lucidworks provides migration notes to help clients plan and execute their upgrades.Minor Release Support Policy
Lucidworks releases minor versions approximately every two months. These are feature-bearing releases that add new capabilities and may include deprecations of functionality planned for removal in future major releases. Lucidworks supports each minor release for up to one year from its release date. The exception is the last minor in a major line, which receives 20 months of support to align with the major’s support window. This policy ensures clients have access to regular feature updates while maintaining stability and predictability for production deployments.Patch Release Support Policy
Lucidworks provides patch releases as needed to address bugs, security vulnerabilities, Kubernetes version compatibility, and critical underlying component upgrades. Only the most recent patch on a supported minor line is actively supported, and Lucidworks recommends upgrading to the latest patch promptly to ensure continued security and stability. Patch releases are backward compatible and do not introduce new features or behavior changes.Backport Policy
For supported minor lines, Lucidworks provides backports for security fixes, urgent bug fixes, Kubernetes version bumps, and critical component updates. New features or behavior changes are not backported to earlier minor releases. This approach balances security and stability with the predictability clients need for production environments.Reference tables

Kubernetes support
The end of support for a Fusion release may extend beyond the end of support for a related Kubernetes version. In these cases, maintenance releases are performed to add a newer Kubernetes version that ensures Fusion support continues for the full term. A Fusion upgrade is required for maintenance releases. See the following for more information on the end of support dates for your Kubernetes version:

Definitions
- General Availability The date the release version was released is Generally Available to all clients.
- Support End Date Once the support end date is passed, Lucidworks Support asks the client to upgrade before offering any support.
