Personalization and targetingA Digital Marketer's Blueprint to Commerce Studio

Personalization and targeting are key strategies for creating a tailored and engaging search experience in Commerce Studio. This article explains how Digital Marketers can leverage these capabilities to align search results with customer segments and business goals.

Personalized search results can enhance the experience for loyalty customers, ensuring they see products and offers that resonate with their preferences. Digital Marketers can also use personalization to enable upsell opportunities, strategically displaying complementary or premium products during the shopping journey.

Additionally, this article covers techniques for returning targeted banner images to specific customer segments and redirecting users to custom landing pages based on their search terms. By implementing these strategies, Digital Marketers can deliver relevant and impactful experiences that foster customer engagement and drive conversions.

    Return banner images to segments

You can trigger actions based on customer segment by using tags when creating rules. Create tags to segment rules by customer behavior, history, or loyalty tier. For example, add a banner to the results payload for VIP customers.

    1. Create a ranking rule in the rules wizard.

    Add or edit a rule

    1. In the Tags field, enter VIP.

    2. On the Add Conditions page, click Select Condition, and then select Field Value.

      1. Click Add Fields

      2. Enter the Field Name and Field Value for your VIP customers. For example, customerType and VIP.

    3. Click Next.

    4. From the Add Actions list, select Add Banner.

      1. In the Banner URL field, paste the banner image URL. For example, https://example-site.com/assets/promotion.png.

      2. In the Banner Section field, you can specify where on the page the frontend should display the banner. For example, TOP. This is an arbitrary value used by the frontend.

    5. Click Next, and then click Publish.

Redirect to landing pages based on search terms

You can redirect users to specified pages when they search for certain queries. For example, redirect customers to your sales page when they search for sale.

    1. Create a ranking rule in the rules wizard.

    2. On the Add Conditions page, click Select Condition, and then select Query.

    3. Select the Query Matching Method you’d like to use, and then enter your Search Terms. For example, select keywords, and then enter sale.

    4. From the Add Actions list, select Redirect.

    5. In the Redirect field, enter the URL to redirect the query. For example, https://example-site.com/sale.

    6. Click Next, and then click Publish.
