    This page provides an overview of the terms Springboard uses in its product and documentation.

    Crawl

    Crawling is the process of getting content into Springboard through a data source. This term is often used synonymously with data source ingestion.

    Data source

    Data sources are complete data ingest configurations that decide how to handle your data during ingestion by Springboard. When you run a fully configured data source, the result is a search-optimized indexed data set.

    Data source ingestion

    Data source ingestion is the process of getting content into Springboard through a data source. This term is often used synonymously with crawl.

    Experience Optimizer

    Experience Optimizer is the site search experience for Springboard. It is the main configuration area for searching high-volume websites and refining results.

    Hub

    The overview of components that makes up a Springboard application. This page includes quick access to APIs, analytics, data sources, and the Applications Manager.

    Index

    Indexing is the process of organizing and storing information found in data sources.

    Ingest

    Ingestion is the complete process of getting content from outside of Springboard into Springboard. Depending on your application, the content may include web pages, events, signals, or documents. Compare to data source ingestion which refers to the process of getting content into Springboard through a data source.

    Robots.txt

    A standard used by websites to communicate with web crawlers. The file includes instructions for allowing or blocking web crawlers, along with access to certain pages or directories. The robots.txt file is also known as the robots exclusion standard.

    Sitemap

    An XML file containing a list of links on your website. It may include additional information such as when a page was last updated, how frequently a page may change, or a page’s relative importance on the website.

    Springboard

    A search platform that powers applications for search, browse, and discovery.

    Support Portal

    Support Portal provides a customizable search experience for your customer service portal.

    Web crawl

    The Web crawl ingests your website or sitemap based on the parameters you select.
