Create a cluster

This topic describes how to create a cluster in Managed Search using the UI. For instructions using the API, see Create a Cluster.
  1. From the Cluster Manager screen, click New. A menu appears:

    Cluster ID

    Unique ID for the cluster.

    Cluster Name

    A user-friendly name for the cluster.

    Node Count

    The number of nodes in your cluster.

    Node Type

    The type of node.

    Storage Size (GB)

    The amount of storage dedicated to each node in the cluster.

    Maintenance Start Time

    The day and time when maintenance is performed on the cluster.

    Sunday 2:00 AM

    Auto-scaling (optional)

    Choice of whether to auto-scale based on the search rate or a schedule.

    Search Rate

  2. Fill out the form and select options for your cluster.

  3. Click Create Cluster.

Your cluster appears on the Cluster Manager screen. When its Status is listed as Operational, the cluster is ready.

Edit a cluster

This topic describes how to edit a cluster in Managed Search using the UI. For instructions using the API, see the topics on modifying attributes of a cluster using PUT and PATCH.
  1. In the Cluster Manager screen, hover your cursor over the name of the cluster you want to edit.

  2. Click the Edit button that appears: Edit

  3. Make changes in the menu that appears.

  4. Click Update Cluster to save your changes: Update Cluster

Delete a cluster

This topic describes how to delete a cluster in Managed Search using the UI. For instructions using the API, see Delete a Cluster.
Warning
Deleting a cluster is hard to undo and eventually results in data loss for all attached collections. Backups are deleted on a rolling basis.
  1. In the Cluster Manager screen, hover your cursor over the name of the cluster you want to delete.

  2. Click the Details button that appears: Details

  3. Click the Delete Cluster button in the top-right corner of the screen. A confirmation menu appears.

  4. Type the name of the cluster in the empty field, as listed in the instructions.

  5. Click the I understand, delete the cluster button to permanently delete your cluster: Confirm Cluster Delete Button

Your cluster appears on the Cluster Manager screen with the status Deleting your cluster…​. When the cluster disappears from this screen, the deletion process is complete.

Note
The cluster deletion process can take several minutes. Although the cluster should automatically be removed from the Cluster Manager screen, you may need to reload your browser for the cluster to disappear.
