These tutorials guide you through some basic Fusion tasks with step-by-step instructions using sample datasets.

You can also watch a demonstration of end-to-end Fusion 3 setup with our Site Search in an Hour webinar.

Getting Started with Fusion

This tutorial takes you from installation to a fully-functional search application in five easy parts.

  • Part 1: Getting Data In

We’ll show you how to get data into Fusion using the Index Workbench, a powerful tool for configuring datasources, parsers, and index pipelines, and for previewing the results before you index your data.

  • Part 2: Getting Data Out

In this part, you’ll get data out of Fusion using the Query Workbench, where you can configure a query pipeline and preview the search results to fine-tune them for your needs. We’ll show you how to configure faceting so that end users can easily filter their search results.

  • Part 3: Superior Relevancy

Part 3 explains how to use signals and recommendations to add superior relevancy to search results.

  • Part 4: Creating a Great UX

We’ll show you how easy it is to set up Lucidworks View as your front-end search application, then configure it for the best presentation of search results.

  • Part 5 demonstrates how to configure security trimming so that search results are filtered according to the end user’s permissions.

This tutorial introduces the fundamental components of Fusion and takes you through the process of building a search app over a rich dataset. We’ll transform a simple CSV file into a searchable collection of cinema data.

This tutorial has three parts:

  • In Part One, we’ll see what we get with the default parser and index pipeline.

  • In Part Two, we’ll improve the index pipeline to create richer documents.

  • In Part Three, we’ll improve the query pipeline to get better search results.
